Experts estimate that a staggering one million families will face foreclosure this year. However, tens of thousands of homeowners could avoid foreclosure if they received solid financial advice. This discussion will focus on a successful national partnership between nonprofit counseling agencies and leading mortgage lenders/servicers to avert foreclosures.

The panel will highlight successful collaborations among these organizations to:

• Advance local foreclosure prevention coalitions in cities and states with high rates of foreclosure
• Conduct national and regional public outreach to reach struggling homeowners
• Build nonprofit counseling capacity through a national hotline and NeighborWorks training courses
• Improve loss mitigation methods through cross-sector conversations and partnerships
