In recent years homeownership opportunities for lower-income households have increased. With the expansion comes worry about the ability of traditionally underserved households to sustain homeownership. The post-purchase industry represents a potential source to help address the growing concern. However, the industry is fragmented with a range of nonprofit and public agencies providing programs of disparate quality and quantity. In addition, funding for post-purchase programs is limited, and empirical evidence on program effectiveness is lacking.

This report provides a summary of the current state of the post-purchase field and is based on interviews with national experts, site visits, and review of printed materials.
