The nearly five years since the creation of the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP) have witnessed substantial growth in publicly funded health systems for children.  This report, the first from a congressionally mandated national evaluation, draws on findings from case studies in six of the ten states included in the national evaluation: California, Colorado, Louisiana, Missouri, New York, and Texas.
