WASHINGTON, Jan. 28 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Rebuilding Together, the nation's leading nonprofit organization working to preserve affordable homeownership, today announced that it has invested more than $600,000 dollars market value into the revitalization of the Historic West Tampa Neighborhood. Rebuilding Together teamed with the NFL, local affiliate Rebuilding Together Tampa Bay and title sponsor, the American Petroleum Institute, this year for 14th annual "Kickoff to Rebuild" project.

On Friday, January 30, over 1,000 volunteers from more than fifty corporations and organizations will make needed repairs to 20 homes in Historic Old West Tampa. The event will focus on home rehabilitation and restoration; each home will also be made more energy efficient. All repairs are at no cost to the homeowners.

The West Tampa community is a historic neighborhood that has taken significant measures in recent years to reinvigorate its traditions and legacy within the City of Tampa. It is a community primed for revival and prepared to rebuild the historic buildings and homes that characterize the community between its Central Business and the Westshore Business District. In the heart of the West Tampa district, the old West Tampa neighborhood is an area that combines urban living with historical preservation.

NFL Players participating include Duke Preston, Buffalo Bills; Brandon Jones, Tennessee Titans; D'Qwell Jackson, Cleveland Browns; Will Allen, Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Ryan Nece, Detroit Lions; Nick Sorenson, Cleveland Browns; and Tony McDaniel, Jacksonville Jaguars. Cheerleaders from the Denver Broncos and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are also expected to attend. Tampa Mayor Pam Lorio will join the festivities as well.

National sponsors for Rebuilding Together's Kickoff to Rebuild include the American Petroleum Institute, Marathon Oil Corporation, Bridgestone, TiresPlus, Mosaic, National Roofing Contractors Association, The Pepsi Bottling Group, and The Fix and Flip Network.
