The Community Development Authority (CDA) announced today that it is progressing ahead of schedule with its plan to transition 16 social services under its umbrella.
Since its establishment in July 2007, the CDA began creating a team of specialists tasked with the responsibility of implementing the transition plan according to the law.
During its initiation phase, the CDA focused on building a skilled human resource base. The CDA also worked towards defining the mechanics of the transition plan, with advice from experienced third parties.
In Mid-October 2008, the CDA met with the social service organizations which would fall under its mandate to discuss the strategy and determine a transition timeline.
Dr. Maryam Matar, Director General of the CDA, comented:
'We are progressing steadily towards implementing the transition plan. We will begin by communicating and collaborating with the concerned parties, coordinating and analyzing data, and transferring the tasks, services and managements under our umbrella."
The plan to absorb certain social services is a part of the law which originally established the CDA. The law calls for a single organization to oversee the provision of different social services in Dubai as part of a coordinated effort to achieve the social development goals set out in the 2015 Dubai Strategic Plan.
'We will make sure the transition goes smoothly, effectively and practically and that customers will continue to receive the same top quality services which they currently receive. We will work closely with the current service providers and their employees to ensure that the transition plan is implemented effectively,' Dr Mariam added.
