SAN RAMON Applications are now being accepted from Contra Costa residents with low or very low incomes for a new apartment complex in Dougherty Valley.

Seville at Gale Ranch is under construction and looking to find residents for the first 21 units of the 165-unit complex.

Seville is aimed at very low- and low-income families living in Contra Costa County. To qualify, a single person, living alone, would make no more than $29,350 a year to qualify for housing reserved for those on very low incomes and $46,350 to qualify for those on low incomes. For a family of four, the wage earners would have to make no more than $41,900 a year to qualify for very low-income housing, or $66,250 to land in the low-income bracket.

When completed, fifty-four of the units will be leased to families on very low incomes and 111 units to low-income families. The apartments have one to three bedrooms. Rents will range from about $790 to $975 a month for very low-income residents and $972 to $1,610 for those on low incomes.

The complex, constructed by Shapell Homes, will be managed by EAH a nonprofit housing development and management organization. It has developed 74 properties and manages 8,000 units in California and Hawaii, including Falcon Bridge at Gale Ranch and Camellia Place in Dublin.

Construction of the new affordable housing apartments complies with the Dougherty Valley plan, which requires that at least 2,750 of the 11,000 homes planned for the Dougherty Valley be built for residents on very low or moderate incomes.

Other affordable housing in Dougherty Valley includes Cornerstone Apartments, Muirlands at Windemere and for people on moderate incomes $70,400 for one person and $100,600 for four options include Canyon Oaks at Windemere and Mill Creek at Windemere.

For more information about the rentals available at Seville, call 925-830-8800. The temporary leasing office is at 500 Copperset Road, in San Ramon.
