WHAT'S NEW

Education Rights of Homeless, Transitional Students
Wed., Sept. 10 at 1 p.m. ET
Children who move more than three times in six years can fall an entire school year behind classmates who don't move as often. In the current housing crisis, students staying with relatives or friends after being put out of their homes through foreclosures are at educational risk. This audio training from the National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty covers the McKinney-Ventro Act, which permits homeless and transitional students to stay enrolled in their schools even when their home situations change. The training also includes information on how the act applies to early childhood education, special education, and higher education.
